Log sales help raise £900 for local primary school

The Woodfuel Centre was recently contacted by Ringway Primary School in Choppington who had some felled trees they wanted processed into firewood.

The Woodfuel Centre went the extra mile to help out the school and sell the logs on their behalf and raised £900.00, which was donated back the school.

Shauna Davison, Admin Officer at Ringway Primary School, commented:

“We were recommended Blyth Star Enterprises by a staff member. We were put in touch with Neil Hedley and explained that we had recently had 5 trees felled on the school field. Our intention was to arrange for the wood to be chopped and then to be sold with profits going into our school fundraising account.

“Neil was extremely helpful and arranged for a team of service users to attend school to chop the stumps. The team worked very hard and chopped what turned out to be a huge amount of wood. The wood was then transported back to their workshop and treated so it could be sold.

“The money raised from this has paid for brand new keyboards and guitars for the school and will also cover the cost of a selection box at Christmas for every child that attends Ringway Primary School.

“The team then went on to create some bespoke pieces of wood for our Reception Class. The purpose of this was to give them the opportunity to build and create structures using natural materials. The children have had great fun using the wood and have worked together as a team to build houses, towers etc.

“We would like to thank Neil and his team for their involvement and we hope we can continue to work with them in the future.”
