Seeing how much I’ve done with my day makes me feel proud.

At Stakeford Nurseries our network of polytunnels, greenhouses and outdoor plots gives individuals the chance to learn about gardening and horticulture, from the basics of sowing seeds and watering plants, to more complex work involving preparing soil, planting seasonal vegetables and learning about crop rotation. We also cater for those who are more artistically minded, with lots of opportunities for making decorative displays such as hanging baskets and wreaths.

You don’t need any prior experience or knowledge to join us as we have a team dedicated to helping you learn. All you need is an interest in gardening or horticulture and an eagerness to participate. Stakeford Nurseries can be a great opportunity to meet new people and socialise whilst getting your hands dirty and learning a whole host of new skills.

At Stakeford Nurseries, we support people with learning disabilities and mental health issues in a friendly and relaxed horticultural setting, providing training, experience and meaningful activities in an environment which promotes independence, a healthier lifestyle and enhanced social interaction. Our clients are encouraged to get involved in areas of horticulture that interest them. From garden maintenance to growing fruit and vegetables, there is something on offer for everyone.

“The Nurseries is important to so many people, not just the service users, but the local community too. We provide mobile gardening services to the elderly and retail our produce locally. Our customers value the fact that they are supporting our charity and the work we do through their purchases.
— Dan Hedley, Service Manager at Stakeford Nurseries.
