Blyth Star scoops Silver Award at tenth annual Better Health at Work ceremony

Last March, we were absolutely delighted to announce that as an organisation, we had managed to secure a Better Health at Work Bronze Award. This year, we have gone one better and scooped a Silver!

Now in its tenth year, the North East Better Health at Work scheme is designed to help businesses address health and wellbeing issues within the workplace. Open to employers of all shapes and sizes across the North East and Cumbria, the programme recognises the efforts of companies as they aim to promote healthy lifestyles among their workforce.

In order to qualify for the Silver level, we have built on our activities from last year which focused on:

·         Healthy eating and its links to Diabetes

·         Exercise and physical activity

·         Alcohol and drug awareness

·         Heart health, blood pressure and cholesterol including men’s health

·         Work-life balance, stress and mental health

Our staff have been incredibly supportive and engaged with the programme throughout so we are thrilled to have had our efforts recognised with the Silver Award.

A handful of our staff attended the glittering ceremony at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Newcastle to accept the award on Friday 8th March, at which Blyth Star Enterprises was also one of the sponsors.
